Another year has come and gone, from bonding with your daughter through the multiverse, to a top chef keeping his family diner afloat, while an American journalist travels to Japan to take down the Yakuza - so many great stories were told & these are the rankings of my favorite watches of 2022.

My Favorite Movies of 2022

I fell in love with my number one pick back in September, and though I watch every movie hoping the next is better than the last - nothing has exceeded the amount of emotion I felt while watching this.

Numbers two through four are amazing because they were able to hone in on such creative original ideas, you can’t help but get swept away in something that knows exactly what it wants to be.

Number five was the surprise of the year, a random watch two weeks into its theatrical release that matched cutting edge animation with an emotional story - that might have just re-birthed an entire franchise. 

Number six was pure escapism, and a reminder that no matter how good your home setup is - some movies need to be watched on the biggest screen possible.

Number seven was the perfect blend of scares and social satire-filled commentary, that truly spoke to the times we are in.

Number eight was a one-two punch of two original stories, that somehow merged modern day with cult classic.

Number nine was a brilliant commentary on class, that works in beautifully crafted dishes into a night of judgement.

Number ten was a brutally honest take on parenthood, and generational trauma that ends up manifesting itself in future relationships. 

Note: The real MVP of 2022 was the horror movie genre.

My Favorite TV Shows of 2022

TV Shows > Movies in 2022 - and it’s not even close.

This was the hardest list I had to make because TV had one of its best years - maybe ever. The diversity in story delivery, and the unique premises made each one of these shows a truly rewarding viewing experience.

I could flip flop positioning of my five, and maybe even swap in an honorable mention but with much internal debate - this is what I settled with.

My number one won’t get the acclaim the others will but to me it’s the best mob story we’ve gotten in recent memory, and the only show that had me dying to know what happens next on a weekly basis.

The rest you’ll see name dropped quite a bit during award season, and if you like being in the know - two through five are must watches.
